What does NECO do?
Special Research Projects – Student initiated projects that promote sustainability on campus and in the community. Projects like establishing recycling in the residence halls, instituting composting at MSU, rethinking how we get to school, and getting solar panels for the SUB. New projects are always welcome.
Curriculum Committee – integrating sustainability into the MSU curriculum. Working with several academic entities on campus to make sustainability a part of what every MSU student learns.
Productions – puts on documentary screenings, discussion panels, luncheons as well as promoting and providing recycling at shows with Porterhouse Productions, like Girl Talk, Mason Jennings and Atmosphere.
Community Outreach – work on projects like Bozeman Youth Initiative’s Greenhouse Bus Project, which will feature a fully functioning greenhouse, sustainable design and curriculum centered around both. We also work with BORN to put on the annual Bioneers conference.
Public School Outreach Committee – a program in which NECO students pair up with Bozeman High students to go out to local elementary schools and teach about the basics of sustainability and recycling through hands-on demonstration and the concept of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Earth Week – Week long celebration for environmental awareness, in collaboration with the Gallatin Earth Celebration.
